James Robert “Bob” Marshall January 5, 1937 - June 17, 2020 Bob Marshall, 83, of Covington, Tennessee died peaceably in his home on June 17, 2020 He stepped out of this world and into the next. Mr. Bob was a retired agricultural mechanical engineer. He was instrumental in the 1960’s and early 70’s in helping to develop the high capacity cotton ginning processes used today. He loved to tell people about his travels and adventures all over the world during that time. In the late 80’s, he partnered with his son Steve and started a general contracting agricultural construction company, M&M Gin Sales, building 12 cotton gins in the southern United States, which later evolved into M&M Construction. Bob loved working in the yard in his down time and was a devoted husband and dad. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Jeanette Marshall and his parents, James Brooks Marshall and Essie Lee Melby. He is survived by his two children, Teresa Cotnam of Covington and Steve Marshall (Debbie) of Covington; six grandchildren, Justin Cotnam of Covington, Lydia Cotnam of Covington, Allen (Jamie) Marshall of Atoka, Greg Marshall of Millington, Mallory (Greg) Delaney of Covington, Michael (Brittany) Utley and five great-grand children. Bob never met a stranger, he will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Covington Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
