Billy Wayne Morton

June 16, 1944 — February 14, 2024

Covington, TN

Billy Wayne Morton, 79, went into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Baptist-Tipton in Covington, Tennessee, with his family at his side.

Billy was born on June 16, 1944, to Paul and Opal Morton. He resided in the Holly Grove community for much of his youth with his parents and sisters and was a 1963 graduate of Brighton High School. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren and supporting them in ever way he could, especially through prayer and his faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.

Billy was an avid sportsman, and he enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and watching his beloved Atlanta Braves.

Anyone who knew him knew that he always had a smile and a story at the ready and would always end his conversations with the family motto: "I love you with all of my heart!"

He is survived by his son, Brandon Morton (Kathryn) of Brighton, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Leah, Lawson, and Libby Morton, all of whom he considered his pride and joy; his son Christopher Morton; his sister Judy Ridings (Jay) of Covington, Tennessee; his brother-in-love Val Keiter of Brighton, Tennessee; and a host nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Lou Ann Cornelius and Kathy Keiter, all of whom he loved so dearly.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
