Bill Smith, 73, of Covington, passed away on Friday, January 7 at Baptist Hospital Tipton. Mr. Smith was a retired EMT with Baptist Hospital Tipton, a U. S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam and a member of the Leigh's Chapel Holiness Church. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; four sons, Walter Dale (Melissa) Smith of Ripley, Oliver (Camille) Smith of Covington, Terry (Kress) Smith of Memphis and Tony (Kelly) Smith of Illinois; three sisters, Pashing (Leroy) Pruitt of Ripley, Mirley Ann (James) Pruitt of Covington and Betty Mae Waldron of Byhalia, MS; one brother, Tommy Ed Smith of Arkansas and nine grandchildren, Kody Smith, Terri Smith, Olivia Smith, Luke Smith, Abe Smith, Lydia Joy Smith, Gracie Smith, Ruthie Smith and Ella Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Hazel Smith and one sister, Johnnie Lou "Lulu" Smith. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12 at the Morrison Memorial Cemetery in Brighton. There is no visitation scheduled and friends are invited to gather at the cemetery.
