Barbara Lee Tankersley

Barbara Lee Jackson Tankersley of Drummonds, passed away at her home at the age of 83 on Sunday, July 23 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a faithful Christian and attended Simonton Assembly of God Church for most of her life but most recently attended the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Munford for at least the past 20 years. She was a 1958 graduate of Munford High School. In her early career, she was a group leader on the production line at Warwick Electronics in Covington. She then decided to fulfill her dream job which was to become a hairdresser and to ultimately become the sole proprietor of her very own beauty shop. She accomplished her goal and worked very hard at her beauty shop while also being a bus driver for the Tipton County School System. She loved her family and everyone else unconditionally. She was a true warrior and continuously talked about how much God had blessed her with a loving husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren along with other family members. She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Jim) Stephens of Drummonds and Vickey (Joe) Robertson of Munford; four grandchildren, Jessica (JR) Locke of Brighton, Kori (Darren) Randle of Houston, TX, Clayton (Cortney) Tankersley of Munford and Chelsea (Anthony) Lehman of Drummonds; six great-grandchildren, Josiah Nowlen Locke, Juliana Grace Locke, Kali Ann Randle, Karoline Ash Randle, Parker Jackson Frame and Raelyn Isabella Tankersley; two additional great-grandchildren on the way, Wrenlee Heather Tankersley, due Sept. 2023 and Daxton Hughes Randle, due Dec 2023; three sisters, Phyllis (Jim) Wyatt of Havelock, NC, Wanda Dawson of Olive Branch and Sue Fleming of Jackson, TN and one brother, Gary (Patricia) Jackson of Drummonds. She was preceded in death by her father, J. G. Jackson; her mother, Roberta Reeder Jackson; her husband of 41 years, Jerry Nowlen Tankersley; one son, Jerry Dwayne Tankersley; one granddaughter, Heather Tankersley Frame and one brother, Sam Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in the Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. She loved her flower gardens and the family appreciates anyone that would like to send flowers to her service. However, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the charity of the donor's choice.
