Amy Marie Atkins, 55, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, February 14 at Baptist Hospital Memphis after a brave battle with cancer and then COVID-19. Throughout her courageous fight, she maintained full faith in the Lord and all His blessings, worrying and praying about others in the process. Amy was born in Memphis on February 17, 1966 to the late Oneida and Bill Watkins. She married Dewayne Atkins on May 14, 1982 and had two children; a daughter, Danielle Atkins and a son, James Atkins. She is also survived by two sisters, Francis (Conrad) Escue and Anne Watkins; three nephews, Conner Escue, CJ Escue and Michael Bailey; two nieces, Isabella Soyars and Elizabeth Huffman and many friends in her life and community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Christopher McClain. Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Amy was a kind, loving soul who always prayed for everyone else and helped others selflessly. She loved and cherished the Lord and her family more than anything else in this world. She will be loved and missed greatly until we join her in Heaven someday. A verse she valued and shared often: Isaiah 41:31 "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right had, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee."
