Alma Lee Pairmore, 84, of Munford, passed away on Friday, June 7, at her home. Alma graduated from Munford High School in 1957 as the Salutatorian while playing the snare drum in the marching band.
Throughout her life, she held many jobs and titles. She worked for the United States Air Force as a secretary before going to work for the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture, Cotton Division, until her retirement in 1997. She served her church, Poplar Grove Methodist Church, as pianist, secretary, and overseer of the cemetery records. She also served as the President of the Memphis Rose Society and as the Secretary of the Tennessee/Kentucky Monument Builders Association.
Alma is survived by her husband, Vernon Drew Pairmore, Sr; two children, Verna Lee Pairmore-Todd and Vernon Drew Pairmore, Jr; two grandchildren, Bradley Ryne Todd and Emily Elizabeth Todd Wade; grandson-in-law, Michael Allen Wade;two great grandchildren, Indie Wade and Olive Wade; one nephew, Mark Walker and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Edith Hoy and Benton Arlee Sullivan; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Sullivan and Martha Frizzell; one nephew, Roger Walker and her son-in-law, Richard Todd.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 at the Covington Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds, The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Poplar Grove Cemetery Association, Memphis Parkinsons Assocation, Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
