Alfred Baker Smith, Jr. of Covington passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto at the age of 80. He was a security director for Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino in Tunica, MS, a United States Army veteran, and a big Alabama fan!
Junior is survived by one son, David Smith; one daughter, Kimberly Ballard; one sister, Mirley Marie Robbins; two granddaughters, Megan Cove and Peyton Leffingwell; one grandson, Hunter Smith, and one great-granddaughter, Raelynn Cove.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara McCullough Smith; his parents, Alfred Baker and Mary Viola Boswell Smith; one brother, Gillie “Black Dog” Smith, and one sister, Bridget Louise Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 7 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Covington Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
