Joy Davis Caplena January 22, 1931 – September 4, 2017 Joy Davis Caplena, 86, of Memphis, passed away on Monday, September 4. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16 at the R. H. Munford Cemetery. Covington Funeral Home has charge of cremation services. Ms. Caplena was a retired clerk with the U. S. Government having worked for the U. S. Forest Service in Atlanta and the U. S. Army Audit Agency in Frankfurt, Germany and Baltimore, Maryland. Upon her return to Memphis, she worked for Smith Financial Services. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Murphy of Brighton and Gina Ellis of Bartlett; one brother, Bill Jim (Helen) Davis of Covington; one sister, Shirley Davie of Covington; two grandsons, Jonathan (Christy) Murphy of Brighton and Christopher Murphy of Clayton, OH; four great grandchildren, Maddy Murphy, Sophie Murphy, Zach Murphy and Josh Murphy and two step-great grandchildren, Maria Goldring and Isaac Goldring. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Grace Caplena; her parents, Jesse and Johnnie Davis and one brother, Rob Roy Davis.
