Carl Smith, Jr. March 11, 1945 – March 5, 2017 Carl Smith, Jr. was called home to be with our Lord on a Sunday March 5, 2017. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday March 10th at Covington Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Walton Cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. He is preceded in death by his mother Ruby, father, Carl Sr. and brothers Frank and Billy Smith. He is survived by his sisters Jeannette Kee, Christine Fletcher and Linda Faye Smith; sons David and Timothy Smith, step sons Samuel Nanney and Sean Nix; step daughters Elizabeth Bell, Donna Cannon and Pamela Carroll; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Carl worked many years as a carpenter and homebuilder. He was a selfless and giving person who was part of the fabric of our community and many owe him the roofs over their heads to this day. Many young men learned valuable life lessons working with him on countless job-sites. Before his battles with illness he was a consummate horseman and when not on a job-site he could be found with his sons at the barn. He leaves behind a legacy of a strong work ethic and selfless sacrifice for family. We ask that in-lieu of flowers donations be made to Brain Trauma Foundation.org in his name.
